Woodhorn museum & Northumberland Archives is located at the heart of the original colliery at Woodhorn. No.2 winding house was created to house a second winding engine providing a second exit for the men working underground. It is the last Victorian engine house in Northumberland to still contain a working winder.

OBJECTIVES

The exhibition building was previously used as a storage room and although there was access to the winding wheel on the top floor this was extremely limited. LamasaTech were asked to plan, design and create a dedicated exhibition interpretation area for No.2 winding house that would be informative, engaging and accessible to all visitors.

Multi Touch Wayfinding Kiosks Transforms User Navigation and Experience

CLIENT OBJECTIVES

This leading airport in Saudi Arabia were looking for a solution that would allow visitors to easily find their way around the airport by utilising a digital wayfinding system. One of the main requirements for this project was the ability to edit the map and content on the kiosk and keep all information up to date. 

SOLUTION

LamasaTech designed, developed and delivered the full wayfinding system and supplied and installed the multi touch kiosks. The system was equipped with a complete content management system allowing the airport staff to edit the map and information from their PC. This ensured that all information was accurate at all times giving the customer the best possible service. Staff were also able to control updates to the system and ensure these were set for their least busy times as not to disrupt the flow. The system also showed advertising and promotional messaging when the map was not in use, making the most of the kiosk as a whole.

BRIEF

LamasaTech was approached to deliver a number bespoke kiosks that would allow staff to perform HR tasks in order to improve efficiency. One of the main features required was the ability to house an A3 high quality colour printer.

SOLUTION

LamasaTech produced a number of self service kiosks that included keyboards and touch pads and the A3 printer as required. Each kiosk housed a double tray printer with both letter headed paper and plain paper. This feature was added so that staff were able to obtain any documentation necessary at the click of the button.
